Our New Headteacher

Dear Parents, Carers, and Community,

As I am sure you are aware, Dr Smith will be leaving her post as Headteacher of Wombourne High School after 4 very successful years.

I would like to take this opportunity to give my sincere thanks to Dr Smith for her hard work and dedication to Wombourne High School. Recently this hard work was recognised by OFSTED, who verified what we already know, Wombourne is a good school! Dr Smith’s leadership through this period has been much appreciated by everyone connected to the school, and I am sure you will join me in wishing Dr Smith all the very best for the future.

It does bring us to an exciting new chapter, and I am delighted to formally introduce Claire Powell, who will be joining us, as Wombourne’s new Headteacher, in September and is already working closely with Dr Smith and the team at Wombourne to ensure a smooth transition.

Ms. Powell has the following message for you:

“It gives me great pleasure to introduce myself as the new Headteacher of Wombourne High School. During the interview process, I came to understand that this is an ambitious and supportive school community in which partnership and collaboration are at the heart of school life. The staff value their positive relationships with parents and the students spoke warmly about the expert teaching and support that they receive. It will be a privilege to lead this wonderful school and I am looking forward to us achieving great outcomes together in the coming years.

I am joining Wombourne High School at a very exciting time as we embark upon a new build project which will upgrade our facilities further to ensure that students learn in the best possible environment, and at a time where the work of the entire school community has been recognised in the recently published Ofsted report. I am fortunate to be inheriting a school in a fantastic position with all the foundations in place on which we can together build our future achievements.

I am looking forward to working with the whole community as we strive for even greater success for all our young people. By working together and demonstrating ‘hard work, positivity and kindness’, we can ensure that all our students enjoy their time at school, make excellent progress and leave us ready for success in whichever field they choose. Your continued support will be greatly appreciated and will help us to have another positive and successful year.

I wish all parents, students and staff a refreshing and restful summer break and I am very much looking forward to beginning our work together in September.”

We have a very exciting few years ahead at Wombourne with the new build project planning well under way, and I am very confident that Claire, with the support of her team and the Trust, can take the school to the next level.

Yours Sincerely,

Tony Bowles
